🏷️ Local Listings Marketplace

Buy & Sell Individual Items Locally

The Local Listings tab is YardShoppers' built-in marketplace for individual items — furniture, electronics, clothing, tools, and anything in between. Clean, fast, and hyper-local.

🏷️ What Is the Local Listings Marketplace?

The Local Listings tab is a dedicated buy/sell marketplace for individual items — separate from yard sales and estate sales. Think of it as a clean, community-first alternative to Craigslist, built right into YardShoppers. Every listing is posted by a real local person, and you can message the seller directly inside the app.

💡
Local Listings vs. Yard Sales — What's the Difference?

A Yard Sale is a whole-home event with many items for sale on a specific date. A Local Listingis a single item you're selling on an ongoing basis — no event date required. You can browse both on YardShoppers, but they live in separate tabs so you always know what you're looking at.

Recently Viewed Strip

When browsing Local Listings, a Recently Viewedstrip appears at the top of the page showing the last few items you looked at. It's saved in your browser locally — so even if you go back and forth between pages, you never lose track of something that caught your eye.

Boosted Items Float to the Top

Just like with yard sales, sellers can boost individual item listings. Boosted items float to the top of the Local Listings feed and display a Featuredbadge. If you're selling something and want to reach more buyers fast, boosting is the quickest way to do it.

📦 Posting a Local Listing

Selling a single item? Post it for free in under 2 minutes. Go to /post, choose Single Item, and fill out the form.

1
Choose 'Single Item'

On the post form, select Single Item as your listing type. This routes it to the Local Listings tab.

2
Title & Description

Give your item a clear title and write a description. Include brand, condition, dimensions, or any defects so buyers know exactly what they're getting.

3
Set Your Price

Enter your asking price. You can mark it as 'Free' (enter $0), set a firm price, or enable 'Offers OK' to signal you're open to negotiating.

4
Pick Categories

Tag your item with relevant categories from the 13 available. More tags = more chances to appear in filtered searches.

5
Add Your Location

Enter your city and ZIP code. Your exact street address is not required for individual items — just a general area so buyers know how far they'd need to travel.

6
Upload Up to 10 Photos

Great photos sell items. Drag and drop or tap to upload up to 10 images. Show the item from multiple angles and include any damage or wear.

7
Submit Free

Hit Submit and your listing is live immediately in the Local Listings tab. Optionally boost it right away or skip for now.

💬 Contacting a Seller

Found something you want? Here's how to reach the seller:

💬
Message the Seller

Click 'Message Seller' on any listing detail page. This opens a real-time conversation thread inside YardShoppers — no phone numbers needed. Requires a free account.

🤝
Negotiate the Price

If the listing says 'Offers OK,' feel free to make an offer in the message thread. Sellers are open to discussion.

📦
Arrange Pickup or Shipping

Work out the handoff details through messages. Local pickups are common — or if the listing says it ships, you can coordinate delivery.

📄

Pagination & Load More

Local Listings displays 24 items per page. Scroll to the bottom and tap Load More to fetch the next batch. The total count shown in the header updates as you filter and sort, so you always know how many results match your search.
