🆕 Creating Your Account
Signing up for YardShoppers is free, fast, and requires no credit card. You can browse sales without an account, but an account unlocks saving, messaging, posting, alerts, and everything else.

The fastest way to sign up — one tap, no password required. Choose from:

📧 Sign Up with Email
Prefer email? Enter your address, create a password, and confirm it. You'll get a verification email — click the link inside to activate your account. After that you're in.
Tip:Check your spam/junk folder if you don't see the verification email within a minute.
🖥️ Your Dashboard — Overview
Go to /dashboardor tap your account avatar in the nav to open your dashboard. At the top you'll see a stats bar and four main tabs.
📊 Your Stats Bar
Total number of active listings you've posted.
How many of your listings currently have an active boost.
Your city and state pulled from your profile — used for distance calculations and listing alerts.
📋 My Listings
See every listing you've posted. Each card shows the listing title, type, date posted, view count, and current boost status. From here you can:

- →See which listings are currently boosted and for how long
🏘️ Community
Access the Community Board — a feed of community activity, groups you've joined, and neighborhood posts. Stay connected with local conversations without leaving your dashboard.

Manage your listing alert preferences here. Toggle alerts on or off, change your categories, adjust your radius (10–200 miles), and set your frequency:

Fine-tune exactly which platform events send you a notification. Toggle individual types on or off:

✏️ Editing Your Profile
Your profile is visible to other YardShoppers users when they view your listings or click your name. Keep it up to date for trust and discoverability.
Upload a photo of yourself or your store. If no photo is set, your initials are shown in a colored circle. Photos are stored securely in the cloud. Tap your avatar in the dashboard to upload or replace it.
The name other users see on your profile, your listings, and in message threads. Make it recognizable — your real name, a nickname, or your store name.
Write a short bio about yourself — what you sell, your collecting interests, your neighborhood, or anything you want buyers or sellers to know.
Your general location is shown on your public profile and used to calculate distances for listing alerts and browse filters. Only city and state — no street address is ever shown publicly.

🔒 Account Settings & Privacy
If you signed up with email, you can reset your password at any time via the login page. OAuth users (Google, Facebook, Apple, GitHub) manage their password through their provider.
Your city and state are shown on your public profile. Your exact street address is never shown to other users — it's only used internally for geocoding your listings onto the map.
Block any user from within a message conversation. Blocks are mutual — neither party can see the other's content. Manage blocks from the Friends page → Blocked tab.
You can permanently delete your YardShoppers account at /delete-account. This removes your profile, listings, messages, and all associated data. This action is irreversible.
Install YardShoppers as an App
YardShoppers is a Progressive Web App (PWA). On mobile, you can install it directly to your home screen — no app store required. On Android, tap the browser menu and choose "Add to Home Screen." On iOS Safari, tap the Share icon and choose "Add to Home Screen." You'll get a full app-like experience with offline support and push notifications.

Set your listing alerts to Instant frequency — you'll know about new sales in your area the second they go live, before anyone else.
Use the Route Planner every Friday night to line up all your Saturday morning stops. Optimize the route for the shortest drive and open it in Google Maps before you leave home.
Save interesting listings throughout the week, then use 'Plan My Route' from the Saved page to build your weekend shopping trip in seconds.
Listings with more photos get significantly more views. Upload all 10 photo slots for your sale — show your best items, include wide shots of your setup, and highlight any big-ticket items.
Boost your listing on Thursday or Friday before a weekend sale. The Spotlight tier ($4.99/3 days) is the sweet spot — it covers your whole sale period for under five bucks.
Fill in your City and State in your profile. This makes your distance calculations accurate across the Route Planner, listing alerts, and browse results.
